Community and volunteer groups in Mudgeeraba will share in more than $1.5 million to help them purchase essential items and equipment, delivering on the Queensland Government’s election promise to revitalise frontline services.
Member for Mudgeeraba, Ros Bates MP, said the latest funding round of the Caring for our Community program would make a difference in Mudgeeraba that couldn’t be made under the former government.
“Community and volunteer organisations are the backbone of Mudgeeraba, so it’s important that we support them in their efforts to help local residents,” Ms Bates said.
“This program didn’t exist under Labor and community groups were struggling to afford to purchase the necessary equipment to provide their services.
“We understand the importance of these groups and have a strong plan to grow Queensland communities.
“In our local area, the Gold Coast Junior Rugby League Club received $4,400; The Corporation of the Synod of the Diocese of Brisbane received $3,766; and Careflight (Queensland) Limited received $4,057.
“These grants provide a fantastic opportunity to improve local community facilities and upgrade resources.
“Whether it’s for a printer, computer, a fridge or microwave, the cost of equipment or infrastructure mounts up quickly for community groups and a small boost like this can go a long way.”
Communities Minister Tracy Davis said the Caring for our Community small grants program, recognised how much these groups contributed to Queensland communities.
“This program rewards our hardworking community and volunteer groups by providing $4 million in grants over four years towards the purchase of essential equipment they need to support Queenslanders,” Ms Davis said.
“We know how important these groups are to their local communities, and that’s why we made an election commitment to provide this much-needed financial assistance.”
This latest funding round brings the government’s commitment to the Caring for our Community program to more than $2.9 million.
