Residents and visitors of Springbrook will benefit from a $148,500 upgrade to the popular Gwongorella picnic area.
Member for Mudgeeraba, Ros Bates MP said she was pleased to see enhanced access to Springbrook National Park.
“A $148,500 car park upgrade will make it easier to access the wonderful attractions at Springbrook National Park through the Gwongorella picnic area,” said Ms Bates.
“This car park is at the entrance to our world class walking tracks, including Purlingbrook Falls and Warrie circuits, which were upgraded by the former LNP Government following heavy rainfall events.
“Of course, no visit to Springbrook would be complete without hiking to the John Stacey suspension bridge at the base of Purlingbrook Falls – a $1 million bridge funded and constructed by the former LNP Government, but announced by the Labor Government.”
Ms Bates said residents and visitors alike had appreciated the substantive upgrades to Springbrook National Park which occurred under the LNP.
“Under the LNP, Springbrook’s economy was finally on the mend after the former Labor Government locked away Springbrook in a dodgy deal to secure Greens preferences,” she said.
“I’m proud of the work we’ve done to revitalise Springbrook and get tourists back up the mountain.”
