I will continue to fight for a new state high school west of the M1.
Robina State High School is nearing capacity and Labor have no plans to commission a study for a new school in our local area.
With the emergence of the new City Links Estate, there will be more young families moving to the Mudgeeraba electorate and we need to plan sensibly now, not pork barrel in Labor electorates.
Under an LNP Government the Queensland Schools Planning Commission (the Commission) helped to streamline and coordinate the processes of planning, establishing and expanding government and non-government schools across Queensland through stakeholder consultation and analysis of population projections.
The Commission analysed and released its findings 4.17MB for the top 30 high growth areas across Queensland, based on 2011 population projections.
In those areas, the Commission has mapped the projected changes in the student population over the next two decades against the capacity of schools to accommodate those students.
The demand maps show projected change in school-age population and will help to determine where new primary and secondary schools may need to be built, or existing schools expanded, over the next 20 years.
The creation of school infrastructure demand mapping was the first time Queensland’s three education sectors-state, Catholic and independent-have worked together in this way. It is also the first time the Queensland Government has released school infrastructure planning data to the public.
A factsheet 5MB has been produced to provide succinct information about planning for schools in Queensland.
