The Department of Transport and Main Roads will soon start work on a $200,000 project to improve safety on two sections of Beechmont Road, Clagiraba.

This project involves the installation of chevron alignment markers mounted on motorcycle friendly polysafe cushion posts and polysafe frangible guide posts about 0.3 kms from the intersection of Nerang–Murwillumbah Road. In addition, motorcycle protection (rub rail) guard rail and chevron signs will be installed from 1.0 kms 990 metres to 1.150 kms from the intersection of Nerang–Murwillumbah Road.

This project is expected to start in early June 2014 and take about four weeks to complete.

Motorists can expect lane closures with stop/slow traffic conditions on these sections of Beechmont Road during daytime hours while the work is undertaken.

The project is funded under the Motorcycle Mass Action Program which targets locations that have been identified as high risk locations or have high crash levels.
