A new elder abuse prevention campaign is being implemented by the Queensland Government in the lead up to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on 15 June 2015.

Elder abuse is any act within a relationship of trust which results in harm to an older person.

Trust your instinct aims to help members of the community recognise the most common forms of elder abuse, namely financial and emotional abuse, as well as physical abuse and neglect.

The campaign message, Trust your instinct – call the elder abuse helpline, encourages friends, family and neighbours to aseek free and confidential advice if they suspect someone they know is experiencing elder abuse.

For more information about the campaign, visit the Trust your instinct website at www.qld.gov.au/trustyourinstinct.
