$100,000 to clean up Mudgeeraba Creek

The LNP has committed $100,000 to restoring Mudgeeraba Creek in the Gold Coast hinterland for the benefit of local residents.

Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said the local area would benefit from an enhanced environment for the community to enjoy.

“The poor state of Mudgeeraba Creek has been a huge issue for locals and after I was elected, I kept raising it with the former Labor Government, who just kept passing the buck on our local environment,” said Ms Bates.

“I am pleased to join the Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection to announce that under a re-elected LNP Government, we will commit $100,000 to restore the Mudgeeraba Creek to its former glory for the benefit of local residents.

“This will mean that under the LNP, local families can come to the creek and enjoy yet another environmental attraction in our local area.”

Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection, Andrew Powell MP said the creek was one of Mudgeeraba’s most significant natural assets.

“Thanks to the sound financial decisions of the LNP Government and the hard work of Ros Bates, we are able to fully commit to funding the restoration of Mudgeeraba Creek for the enjoyment of local families and future generations,” said Mr Powell.

Mudgeeraba resident Lucy Moss said she was pleased to see progress being made.

“The creek runs right past our house, but we’ve never been able to use it because no one wants to clean out the sludge and make it safe.”

“It’s great to see we’re finally going to get the funding we need to see the creek restored and another environmental attraction saved in the local area.”
