Beechmont Road landslip repairs are now underway

Beechmont Road landslip repairs are now underway. Residents are reminded to expect some delays during road works.

These landslips occurred as a result of Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie in March 2017. The 23 landslips (10 major and 13 minor) are located in a 16km section of Beechmont Road.

To reduce impacts to motorists and local residents, construction will occur on multiple landslip sites at the same time to ensure the works are completed in the shortest possible timeframe.

These landslip restoration works will occur mainly during the day, Monday to Friday from 6am to 6pm. When required, works may also occur on Saturdays from 6am to 6pm. No work will occur on Public Holidays.

Night works will also intermittently be required starting Wednesday, 18 and Thursday, 19 April. Night works will occur Sunday to Thursday from 6pm to 6am and will primarily be required when large sections of the road are impacted by construction activities or when large machinery is in use, taking up much of the road width.

This week’s night works will occur on several landslip sites near Bottletree Lane.

Residents and road users should expect:

• Single lane closures in the area of the works with mobile traffic signals and/or traffic controllers directing traffic one way at a time. This traffic control will be operational during the day and at night until the landslips in each area are complete
• Access for motorists will be maintained with minor delays expected. However, during night works delays of up to 5 minutes may occur if large machinery is required to be moved off the road to provide access
• Construction noise from large machinery in use during day and night works and reversing alarms used on all machinery and vehicles for safety
• During night works, mobile lighting towers will also be in use to light the work areas.

These Beechmont Road landslip repairs are expected to be completed in late 2018.

Further information about the project’s progress and dates for upcoming night works will be provided. To register to receive these updates, register your details at 1800 227 561 (during work hours) or by emailing
