LNP commits $550,000 to the Robina Community Legal Centre to protect vulnerable Gold Coasters

An LNP Government will invest $550,000 to protect the most vulnerable and improve domestic violence support on the southern Gold Coast with a grant to the Robina Community Legal Centre

Announcing the commitment today (Thursday), LNP Shadow Minister for Domestic and Family Violence Prevention and Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said Labor had left victims vulnerable for three years.

“An LNP Government will ensure domestic violence victims on the southern Gold Coast receive the free legal support they need,” Ms Bates said.

“We will provide the Robina Community Legal Centre with funding certainty through this three-year $550,000 grant so they can continue to support our most vulnerable.

“After three years of neglect under Annastacia Palaszczuk and do-nothing Labor, the southern Gold Coast’s only community legal centre will finally be able to hire the staff they need.

“Labor’s record on domestic and family violence is abysmal and their repeated refusals to fund the Robina Community Legal Centre are yet another example of this.

“The LNP’s commitment to the Robina Community Legal Centre is part of our plan to provide safe and liveable communities and build a better Queensland.”

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart said the funding was a win for the community.

“The Robina Community Legal Centre’s volunteers can now spend less time doing sausage sizzles and raffles and more time helping victims of domestic violence,” Mr Hart said.

Member for Currumbin Jann Stuckey said the centre’s volunteers play a crucial role.

“It’s vital we support victims of domestic and family violence and that’s exactly what an LNP Government will do through this grant while Labor has done nothing,” Ms Stuckey said.

Member for Mermaid Beach Ray Stevens said the entire southern Gold Coast region would benefit from the funding.
