The Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy and expanding Queensland’s reach in Southeast Asia, after opening a second Trade and Investment office in Vietnam to drive exports and create jobs.
It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for Queensland after a decade of decline under Labor.
The new Hanoi office joins Queensland’s existing base in Ho Chi Minh City, making Queensland the first Australian state with a dual-city presence in Vietnam.
Vietnam is now Queensland’s largest export market in Southeast Asia and sixth globally, with beef exports alone up 29 per cent last year.
Under Labor, Queensland missed key opportunities to grow exports, secure investment, and engage with Vietnam’s booming economy.
The Crisafulli Government is now delivering the strategic leadership Queenslanders voted for, showing up, building partnerships, and backing the success of Queensland businesses who will help underpin a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.
The new office helps address Labor‘s legacy of neglect and underinvestment, and will help reposition Queensland as a trusted partner in the region, with growing demand for our resources, food, education, and innovation.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said Queensland was no longer waiting for opportunity, it was building it.
“After Labor‘s decade of decline, where relationships with countries like Vietnam were treated as an afterthought, export potential sate idle, and investment opportunities were missed, we are getting on with restoring Queensland’s standing on the world stage,” Minister Bates said.
“This new office isn’t just about diplomacy, it’s another way the Crisafulli Government is delivering real outcomes for Queenslanders,” Minister Bates said.
“From beef producers in Central Queensland to tech innovators in Brisbane, we’re opening doors to new markets and new jobs, with boots on the ground, so we can deliver a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.
