MEDIA STATEMENT: Gold Coast design brand expands into Europe

  • Opening of ABI Interiors’ new warehouse near London backed by the Crisafulli Government.
  • Global footprint will lead to faster delivery to the UK and across Europe, creating jobs and boosting Queensland exports.
  • Trade Minister Ros Bates leading European trade mission to show Queensland is Open for Business, after a decade of decline under Labor.

The Crisafulli Government is backing Queensland exporters to expand, diversify and lead on the global stage, with Gold Coast design brand ABI Interiors launching a major new warehouse and distribution hub near London.

From a family-run start-up in 2016, ABI Interiors has grown into a global success story, now employing more than 300 people across Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

Its new 1,400 square metre facility will handle thousands of orders each week – cutting delivery times, scaling up operations, and strengthening Queensland’s export presence across the UK and Europe.

The hub builds on ABI’s Chelsea Harbour showroom and boosts its capacity to meet surging demand for Queensland-designed interiors across the UK and Europe.

The expansion coincides with the Crisafulli Government’s reset of Queensland’s global trade presence after years of Labor neglect.

In the year to July 2025, the European Union was Queensland’s sixth-largest goods trading partner at $13 billion, while the UK remains a key investor and trade partner.

The Crisafulli Government’s Queensland–Europe & UK Trade and Investment Strategy 2025-2028 sets out a clear plan to deepen these links and unlock new opportunities for Queensland businesses.

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates, said the ABI Interiors expansion was a clear example of Queensland businesses thriving with the Crisafulli Government‘s support.

“This is Queensland design excellence competing globally – delivering new jobs, stronger supply chains and export growth.” Minister Bates said.

“Under Labor, exporters were left without a plan to diversify or expand. The Crisafulli Government is determined to back Queensland businesses into new markets – ABI Interiors is proof of what that support delivers.”

ABI Interiors co-founder and CEO, Sukai Farrell, said the company’s shift in emphasis toward logistics reflects its commitment to growing further in the UK and beyond.

“We wouldn’t be here without our incredible team, and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time,” Mr Farrell said.

“Our new UK distribution centre marks a major milestone in our journey. It enables us to deliver an even higher standard of service and design to our customers across the UK and Europe.”
