The Carrara Saints AFL and Mudgeeraba Nerang District Cricket Club are set to score $250,000 towards better facilities under an LNP Government.
Under a Frecklington LNP Government, $250,000 will be kicked in towards delivering better clubhouses and ovals for the Saints and the Bushmen.
LNP Candidate for Gaven, Kirsten Jackson, said the improvements will benefit families in her community who love their sport.
“This part of the Gold Coast is about families, and I’m delighted that this commitment to the Saints and the Bushmen will allow even more children to partake in sport all year around,” she said.
Patron of the Clubs and Mudgeeraba MP, Ros Bates, said she had been fighting to deliver better facilities for the clubs, and was pleased to see the LNP stepping up to make this a reality for the Saints and the Bushmen.
“This cash injection will mean that the local community has access to the sports facilities they need and deserve,” she said.
“Ultimately, this is about funding a project that will engage our future local sports stars now and into the future.”
Shadow Minister for Sport and Member for Surfers Paradise, John-Paul Langbroek said now is the time to fund local projects that benefit the Gold Coast community.
“Whether it’s cricket or the AFL, the LNP is committed to ensuring that kids and adults across the Gold Coast have access to the facilities they need to get active,” he said.
“Now, more than ever, it’s vital that we support our sporting clubs that provide opportunities for socialisation and a sense of community.”
President of the Mudgeeraba Nerang District Cricket Club, Matt Gill, and President of the Carrara Saints, Mick Spittle, said the funding would make a world of difference to their clubs and their communities.
“Both clubs greatly appreciate the finding promised as it is the next steppingstone in achieving a new oval and clubhouse,” they said.
