THE LNP Opposition has today announced it will hold a Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall in Ipswich next week, to shine a spotlight on the deteriorating health system.
The event on Tuesday, which is the second held in Ipswich and the 37th Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall across Queensland, will provide a platform for residents to share their experiences with the health and hospital system, and demand change.
The Town Hall follows shocking revelations ambulance ramping hit 60% at Ipswich Hospital in December, the second-highest in the State, with the Ipswich Emergency Department performing the worst of any hospital across the State.
Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the Ipswich West community deserved a world-class health system they could rely on.
“Under Labor, ambulances are waiting on the end of the ramp, while patients are waiting on the end of the phone without help in their hour of need,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“Over a decade, Labor has run our health system into the ground, and the Ipswich community is paying a high price for this failure.
“This is not the fault of the medical staff, responsibility sits squarely at the feet of this decade-old Palaszczuk-Miles Government that’s failed to resource and run our health system.
“Our Health Crisis Town Hall is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the cost of the Queensland Health Crisis.
“The LNP has put solutions on the table to help heal the Queensland Health Crisis, including better resources, better triaging, sharing data in real-time and putting doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care.”
LNP Candidate for Ipswich West Darren Zanow said a key priority for the LNP was easier access to health services.
“Easier access to health services is a priority for the LNP because it’s a priority for the Ipswich West community,” Mr Zanow said.
“We deserve better than 60% ambulance ramping and nearly half of all Emergency Department patients not seen on time at Ipswich Hospital.
“Labor has taken our community for granted and their health failures have cost lives.
“Ipswich West can send Labor a message in the by-election next month: we won’t be taken for granted any longer.”
