An extraordinary Parliamentary Question on Notice has revealed more than half of all Queensland Health and Hospital Services (HHS) aren’t meeting satisfactory levels of performance.
3 HHS boards recorded a level four (poor)
6 HHS boards recorded a level three (unsatisfactory)
The Opposition had to use the power of Parliament to get the information and is calling on the Palaszczuk Government to be open and transparent with Queenslanders about the true state of the health system.
The Palaszczuk Government’s secrecy is clearly harming the health system which has deteriorated over the past eight years they’ve been in power.
Shadow Minister for Open Data Brent Mickelberg said these are terrible scores for the Palaszczuk Government.
“Queenslanders will be alarmed to see how badly the health system has deteriorated,” Mr Mickelberg said.
“The performance of so many hospitals is now at crisis levels.
“It’s alarming more than half of Queensland hospitals audited recorded a level of unsatisfactory or poor performance, which is the worst of the ratings.
“This is a damning statistic and shows a decline under this Health Minister.
“The Opposition shouldn’t have to use parliament to extract this vital response information for Queenslanders who deserve to know the truth.”
Deputy Leader of the Opposition Jarrod Bleijie said all Queenslanders deserve to know how their local hospital is performing.
“These ratings aren’t the fault of our hard-working doctors, nurses, paramedics, and allied health professionals.
“The blame lies with the Palaszczuk Government and their lack of planning over the last eight years.
“After three terms in power the State Government has given up on listening to Queenslanders.
“Queenslanders deserve better.”
