The Palaszczuk Labor Government has today adopted the LNP Opposition’s longstanding policy to add Meningococcal B to the free vaccine schedule for Queensland children.
South Australians have had free access to this vaccine since 2018, but until now the Palaszczuk Labor Government has stubbornly refused to provide it to Queensland children.
For too long the Palaszczuk Government has refused to listen to LNP calls for free Meningococcal B vaccines.
Finally, Queenslanders will now be able to access it.
I would like to acknowledge the advocacy of mothers whose children have tragically suffered from Meningococcal B because this vaccine wasn’t in Queensland’s immunisation schedule.
I also want to thank Currumbin MP Laura Gerber who has been instrumental in fighting for this vaccine to be made freely available.
It is too late and took too long, but today the Palaszczuk Government has finally adopted the LNP’s policy on Meningococcal B.
