TODAY marks two years to the day since the Palaszczuk Labor Government announced its signature $100 million Care4Queensland Strategy designed to fix the hospital ramping crisis in Queensland.

After two years and $100 million has been spent:

• Ambulance lost hours in Queensland soared higher to of peak 147,000
• Ambulance ramping climbed to a record level of 46% across the state
• Ambulance ramping levels in Queensland remain the worst in the nation
• More patients waited longer than 24 hours in emergency departments, hitting 12,000 people
• Secret documents revealed cases of Queenslanders dying waiting for an ambulance

Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said Queenslanders deserve to know where the money went and why the Queensland Health Crisis has worsened under the Palaszczuk Labor Government.

“Queensland still has the worst ambulance ramping in the country, thousands more patients are waiting 24 hours in emergency departments, patients are dying waiting for an ambulance, bed block is crippling our hospitals, and staff are leaving en masse,” Ms Bates said.

“It’s now obvious the only thing Premier Palaszczuk cared about when her government announced the Care4Queensland strategy was herself.

“The $100 million funding announcement was a short-term political fix from a Premier and Health Minister who were more interested in saving their political skin. After two years we now know the money was never about actually fixing the Queensland Health Crisis, it was all about fixing a media problem.

“The Opposition has hosted 30 Queensland Health Crisis Town halls across the state.

“We listened to brave Queenslanders, patients, families, whistle-blowers, doctors and nurses and allied health professionals who’ve been caught up in the Queensland Health Crisis.

“We put solutions on the table including more resources, improve triaging, real time data monitoring and giving power back to local doctors and nurses instead of the Brisbane knows best mentality.

“After two years and $100 million in funding, the Palaszczuk Labor Government still can’t be trusted to fix the Queensland Health Crisis.

“As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how stressful it is for our frontline doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals who are working double shifts to care for Queenslanders.

“After nearly a decade of chaos and crisis in office, the Palaszczuk Labor Government is no longer listening to Queenslanders.

“Queenslanders want solutions.

“Queenslanders deserve a world class health system no matter where they live.”

Shadow Treasurer David Janetzki said the Palaszczuk Labor Government must be accountable for every dollar that is spent on taxpayers’ behalf.

“The Auditor-General has already questioned the effectiveness of Labor’s $100 million spend. After two years, it is now time for the Palaszczuk Labor Government to provide the answers. After $100 million has been spent, Queenslanders deserve nothing less.”
