A NEW Queensland Ambulance Service Significant Incident Report reveals Queenslanders have lost their lives waiting for ambulances to arrive, as the harrowing reality of the Queensland Health Crisis is laid bare.

The documents obtained by the LNP under Right to Information exposes the horrific state of Queensland’s crumbling health system.

The report exposes shocking failings in Queensland Health between September 2022 and January 2023, including two Queensland lives lost waiting for ambulances:

• A woman with chest-pain in a code 1A case died after waiting 51 minutes for an ambulance to arrive due to “nil resources in the area”.
• A Gold Coast resident suffered a fall and waited 1 hour and 31 minutes for an ambulance to arrive. The resident attempted to crawl back into their house while waiting and tragically passed away.
• A frantic triple zero call was made by a by-stander advising that a female patient was self-harming. While waiting for an ambulance to arrive, the patient went into cardiac arrest.

Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the report was a damning indictment on the Government’s inaction on Queensland’s Health Crisis.

“After years of Labor’s mismanagement, we’re seeing the confronting reality of Queensland’s crumbling health system,” Mr Crisafulli said.

“Queenslanders deserve an ambulance to arrive when they call for help but yet again people have been failed because the Palaszczuk Government can’t run the health system.

“These serious health failures are a symptom of a Government in a constant state of chaos and crisis.

“The time for action is now. The LNP has put health solutions on the table including more beds, better triaging, releasing data in real time and putting doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care.”

Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said her colleagues on the frontline were stretched thin and should be properly resourced.

“Our hardworking ambos, nurses and doctors are doing their best with limited resources and a health system that’s flat-lining,” Ms Bates said.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government has a litany of health failures and Queenslanders are paying the ultimate price.

“Queenslanders should be able to rely on the health system in their hour of need.

“Queenslanders are giving up on the chaotic Palaszczuk Labor Government because they know they can no longer trust them to run the health system.”
