The LNP has committed $200,000 per year over the next 4 years to protect the most vulnerable and improve domestic violence support on the southern Gold Coast to My Community Legal if elected next month.

IMPROVE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT ON THE SOUTHERN GOLD COAST

Announcing the commitment today, LNP Shadow Minister Women and Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said Labor had left victims vulnerable for years and this $800,000 commitment is part of our focus on working harder for Queenslanders, while under Labor Queensland was heading in the wrong direction.

“The LNP will restore a government that works for you, with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Ros Bates MP said.

“An LNP Government will ensure domestic violence victims on the southern Gold Coast receive the free legal support they need,” Ms. Bates said.

“Labor’s failures have overseen $20 billion-plus in project cost blowouts that could have delivered grassroots funding like free legal support for at risk women, and Labor’s abysmal record on DV and their repeated refusals to fund My Community Legal is yet another example of this.

“Queenslanders should have a government that delivers the programs and services needed for the State’s future, supporting our communities.”

Ross Lee from My Community Legal Gold Coast welcomed the announcement.

“This will be a game changer for our service which was facing closure without ongoing funding,” Mr Lee said.

Ros Bates MP said Queenslanders could vote for more funding for domestic violence victims and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.

“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, to ensure the right focus on delivering the programs, services and communities for our state,” Ros Bates MP,” said.

“Only the LNP stands ready to deliver a fresh start for Queensland.”
