The LNP is again calling for an immediate strategy to increase Queensland’s vaccination rate and put an end to the mixed messages.

Queensland is on track to be the last state in the country to fully vaccinate 80% of its population.

Queensland also has one of the highest hesitancy rates in the country with almost 1 in 3 reluctant to receive the vaccine.

Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the Government must act now to ensure Queensland isn’t left behind as the rest of the country hits their targets and moves on.

“The Queensland Government needs a dose of reality, we are at the back of the pack,” he said.

“We have been calling for weeks for an urgent strategy to improve these slow vaccination numbers.

“Yet we still have one of the lowest rates in the country.

“Cut the mixed messaging, boost the vaccine rollout, it is our ticket to freedom and our future.”

Mr Crisafulli said the Government’s ongoing mixed messages on national targets and the lifting of restrictions was letting Queenslanders down.

“Queenslanders have been told what our state will look like when we reach 70% and 80% of the population fully vaccinated, but in the last 24 hours that message has changed,” he said.

“Queenslanders will rise to the challenge of reaching those targets and expect this government to honour its end of the bargain.

“Queenslanders need clear consistent messaging.

“There is no time to delay, as the leader of this state, it is the Premier’s responsibility.”
