• The Crisafulli Government is delivering road safety upgrades across Queensland, with 48 new projects to commence this year under the Targeted Road Safety Program. 
• The projects include critical intersection upgrades, turning lane improvements, audio tactile line marking, and wide centreline treatments.

The Crisafulli Government is building Queensland’s future, with work set to commence on 48 vital road safety projects across the State this year, under the Targeted Road Safety Program.  

The Targeted Road Safety Program will enhance safety for all road users by delivering upgrades on key routes – including the Landsborough, D’Aguilar, Kennedy, and Warrego highways – as well as other priority roads. 

Throughout their decade of decline, the former State Labor Government presided chronic under investment in roads, particularly in regional Queensland.  

These much-needed improvements are now being delivering as part of the Crisafulli Government record investment into the roads and infrastructure needed for a growing State.  

Survey and design activities now beginning at sites across Queensland, with initial design investigations starting in the Wide Bay Burnett region, including at the D’Aguilar Highway and Sauer Road intersection south of Nanango, as the Crisafulli Government moves ahead with planning and delivery.  

The Targeted Road Safety Program includes intersection upgrades, turning lane improvements, shoulder widening, roadside barriers, audio tactile line marking, wide centre line treatments and pedestrian safety upgrades.  

The Crisafulli Government is also fixing the Bruce Highway, with critical safety works under the jointly-funded $9 billion program, through a restored 80:20 funding deal with the Federal Government, after the former Labor Government told Queenslanders it couldn’t be done. 

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the Crisafulli Government was focused on delivering safer roads after years of Labor neglect. 

“We’re getting on with the job of delivering critical road safety upgrades right across Queensland,” Minister Mickelberg said.  

“The former Labor Government presided over a decade of chronic underinvestment, particularly in regional roads.  

“In the recent budget, we delivered a record investment into roads and transport infrastructure, and this is another example of how that will benefit the entire state.  

“Whether it’s major highways, regional road networks or local intersections, we’re building a safer and more reliable transport network for Queenslanders.”
