The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre is in full swing as Queensland’s most talented young performers take to the stage for the 22nd annual Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage.

With five arena-scale shows across three days, this year’s event will feature an extraordinary 2,000 students from Kindy to Year 12, from 181 state schools.

The show is Queensland’s largest youth performance event, with each performance including a 500-voice choir, 70-piece symphony orchestra, more than 1,000 dancers, and stage and media crews.

Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the Crisafulli Government was proud to deliver another year of the event with the 2026 theme of Dream Big – A Brighter Future.

“This program is about more than just performance — it builds confidence, teamwork, skills and memories that will last a lifetime,” Minister Langbroek said.

“For many young artists, Creative Generation has been a springboard into professional careers, and I want to thank all the teachers, parents and volunteers who’ve helped give these students an unforgettable opportunity.

“Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage is a celebration of talent, creativity, and possibility.

“Behind every performance is a six-month journey of learning, rehearsals, and growth, where students are mentored by industry professionals and experience the excitement of a major live production.

“I wish all the students, parents, carers, families and staff a very successful CGEN 2026.”

Creative Generation—State Schools Onstage 2026 will be broadcast on the Nine Network later this year.
