The Crisafulli Government is making Queensland safer and strengthening disaster preparedness by delivering 35 State Emergency Service projects across the State, helping volunteers respond safely and effectively when disasters strike.
Almost $2.5 million is being invested through the 2026-27 Queensland SES Support Grant Program, to deliver new and upgraded SES facilities, backup generators, storage sheds, command buildings, and replacement operational vehicles.
The funding is alongside an additional $875,000 to accelerate the replacement of 12 ageing SES vehicles identified as high priority due to safety and age-related concerns.
Under the former Labor Government, SES volunteer numbers were heading backwards, falling below 5,000 statewide. The Crisafulli Government is supporting the SES and reversing Labor’s decade of neglect, with volunteer numbers increasing to 5,555, and 216 staff.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the Crisafulli Government was ensuring SES volunteers had the resources they needed to continue protecting Queenslanders.
“Every Queenslander relies on our SES volunteers when disaster strikes, and we’re making sure they have the facilities, vehicles and equipment they need to keep communities safe,” Minister Purdie said.
“This latest round of grants will deliver 35 projects across Queensland while fast-tracking the replacement of 12 priority SES vehicles, strengthening our emergency response capability right across the State.
“Whether it’s upgrading local SES headquarters, improving operational facilities or replacing ageing vehicles, we’re giving our volunteers the tools they need to respond whenever Queenslanders need them most.
“Unlike Labor, which left frontline emergency services under pressure after a decade of neglect, the Crisafulli Government is investing in the people and equipment that keep our communities safe.”
Queensland SES Acting Chief Officer Danny Baade said the funding would improve the safety and operational capability of SES volunteers across Queensland.
“It’s vital that our members are supported in disaster preparedness and response.
“Whether it’s floods, cyclones, or search and rescues, this funding will allow our units to be equipped to help Queenslanders when they need it most.”
