Queensland Week is an annual celebration of Queensland’s official separation from New South Wales on 6 June 1859. It provides an opportunity for Queenslanders to come together to celebrate the proud histories and traditions that make our State so special.
Queensland Week activities were recently held in communities across the State as part of the successful Paint the Town Maroon initiative, and communities were encouraged to host their own local celebrations.
To support these community groups and organisations, applications are now being invited for events held during next year’s Queensland Week, 4 to 6 June 2016. Sponsorship funding of up to $10,000 is available for a limited number of events that commemorate our state and encourage community participation.
For more information, or to download the 2016 sponsorship guidelines, visit the Queensland Week website at www.qld.gov.au/queenslandweek. Applications close on Friday, 28 August 2015.
