HEALTH Minister Shannon Fentiman is under immense pressure to reveal if $36 million worth of election commitments have been secretly axed in Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

The Palaszczuk Labor Government has failed to make any progress on three key projects promised to Central Queenslanders at the last State Election:

• $18.2m towards delivering a new cardiac hybrid theatre at Rockhampton Hospital, which will provide access to Level 5 cardiac diagnostic, implantation and interventional services.

• $12.8m for an additional 6-bed expansion and refurbishment of the mental health ward at the Rockhampton Hospital.

• Invest $5.7m to establish a satellite renal dialysis unit with eight treatment spaces at Capricorn Coast Hospital in Yeppoon

Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the Palaszczuk Labor Government promised these crucial services more than two and a half years ago but there had been no mention of them since.

In the case of the cardiac hybrid theatre, the Palaszczuk Government had previously said this project would be delivered in 2023.

It’s clear that promise will now be broken.

“Central Queenslanders are desperate for these services, especially in the middle of the Queensland Health Crisis,” Mr Crisafulli said.

“Because the Palaszczuk Labor Government is in a constant state of chaos and crisis they have failed to provide budget updates on these key projects.

“After three terms, eight years and four Health Ministers, the Palaszczuk Labor Government is no longer listening to Queenslanders.”

Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said the Palaszczuk Labor Government was clearly not interested in delivering on commitments it had made to to Central Queenslanders.

“It’s a cop out to local patients that work hasn’t begun on these three important health projects,” Ms Bates said.

“These were election promises made to the people of Central Queensland.

“This arrogant third-term government has betrayed patients and health staff in Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

“Central Queenslanders deserve better.

“Shannon Fentiman must reveal the future of these health projects, whether their delays will not cost taxpayers even more, when construction will begin and explain why the chaos and crisis of the Palaszczuk Labor Government has seen these projects stall.”
