The LNP is demanding the Palaszczuk Labor Government come clean about the investigation into audiology services at Townsville Hospital, as the number of children caught up in the scandal continues to skyrocket.
The Palaszczuk Labor Government has now alarmingly confirmed at least 80 children have now been affected.
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s chaos and crisis can’t be allowed to cover-up what went wrong.
“Keeping the report under lock and key doesn’t instil the community with confidence,” Ms Bates said.
“The public know very little about what’s going on.
“Is the review being run independently?
“How long is it expected to take before its finalised?
“Health Minister Shannon Fentiman must publicly release this information.
“This can’t be another inside-job cover-up by this Government.
“We have young children’s hearing and development at stake here and this cannot be swept under the carpet by a Government trying to distract from its own chaos and crisis.
“The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s catastrophic failure in this audiology bungle may have sentenced children to a lifetime of challenges.
“If the Palaszczuk Labor Government valued transparency, they would tell the public who is currently running the review and must commit to releasing the findings.
“Queenslanders will not trust Health Minister Shannon Fentiman, who has already publicly admitted she washes data before it is released, to handle the investigation.
“Queenslanders have a right to know what went wrong, how widespread this failure is, and how the Government will prevent the same devastating failure from ever occurring again.
“After eight years of chaos and crisis and four Health Ministers, the Palaszczuk Labor Government has given up on listening to Queenslanders.
“This is another sad chapter in the Queensland Health Crisis, overseen by the same old Government.
“These North Queensland families and kids deserve better.”
