LABOR’S record on regional and rural maternity services is nothing short of a disgrace.

Successive Labor Governments have closed 38 maternity wards since 1998.

More maternity wards have been closed under Labor, that are open in Queensland today.

Since being re-elected in October 2020, Maternity Wards in Gladstone, Cooktown and Biloela Hospitals have all shut their doors.

And in today’s announcement, there is deafening silence on when any of these services will reopen.

It’s not good enough for the families living in these towns across our great State.

Just throwing money at this situation is nowhere near the solution Queenslanders need.

Photo shoots and promo tours will not solve the problem.

Blaming doctors and midwives will not solve the problem.

The problem is the near-decade of under-resourcing and mismanagement of Queensland Health under this Government.

The LNP has put health solutions on the table including more resources, better triaging, releasing data in real time and putting doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care.

Queenslanders deserve better than the chaos and crisis of the Palaszczuk Labor Government.
