The Crisafulli Government is delivering for Queensland by accelerating new critical minerals projects, delivering a Fuel Security Plan, and boosting advanced manufacturing and securing local jobs, in the 2026-27 Budget.
The $749.1 million Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development Budget is strengthening the foundations for a fresh start for better services through a stronger economy.
Unlocking Queensland’s critical minerals, the Crisafulli Government is accelerating the extraction, processing and exporting of our highly-sought critical minerals to the world, with a new fund to drive investment into new projects and catalytic infrastructure.
Former mine sites with high-value critical minerals will be re-commercialised to extract critical minerals from abandoned mining tailings, as part of unlocking the emerging sector.
The Budget will boost fuel security by restoring our ability to drill, refine and store in Queensland, unlocking the Taroom Trough and optimising existing operations in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin, as well as delivering the Taroom Trough Development Plan and expanding local refining capacity.
The Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development will lead a review of the Financial Provisioning Scheme to support new and ongoing resources investment, and will assume administration of the Scheme following the completion of the review.
A new Maryborough-based Manufacturing Hub will boost advanced manufacturing skills in the Wide Bay Burnett region, locking in Maryborough jobs, and expanding the benefits of the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program.
The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program will reach full-steam this year in Maryborough, with the first train being manufactured, supporting local jobs for the long-term.
Further, Queensland manufacturers will have the opportunity to tender for The Better Bus Build, with up to 630 new buses to help upgrade the fleet in South East Queensland to support the Crisafulli Government’s investment across the public transport network.
Treasurer David Janetzki said the 2026-27 Budget was about delivering for Queensland with better services through a stronger economy.
“We are delivering on our promises, with relief you can rely on through responsible decisions for now and the future, and no new or increased taxes,” Treasurer Janetzki said.
“This Budget strengthens the foundations we’ve laid in making Queensland safer, restoring health services, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, building generational infrastructure, getting the Games back on track, as well as playing our part to ease national cost of living pressures.”
Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Minister for Manufacturing and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Dale Last said the Budget unlocked resources, strengthened manufacturing and secured regional jobs.
“This Budget sends a clear signal Queensland is open for business and serious about growing the industries that underpin our economy,” Minister Last said.
“Unlike the former Labor Government who demonised the resources sector, drove investment away and inflated regulation, we just get it done.
“We are backing the resources sector with targeted investment to fast-track exploration, support critical minerals development and give proponents the confidence to invest and get projects moving.
“We are also strengthening Queensland’s manufacturing capability, supporting regional supply chains and helping create more secure local jobs across the State.”
