There are renewed calls for Biloela Hospital to get access to its own CT scanner to help reduce the pressure on local ambulances that transport patients to Rockhampton.

It was one of many suggestions put forward by locals at a Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall in Biloela this morning.

Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli and Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates hosted the forum and heard stories and suggestions from locals about the health system.

Ms Bates said the feedback from residents will help force change to the Queensland Health system.

“We’ve heard stories including Biloela lacking medical equipment like a CT scanner,” Ms Bates said.

“As we continue to travel across Queensland we’re hearing more examples of ambulance ramping, surgery delays, lack of beds and exhausted frontline staff.

“Queensland Hospitals were under severe strain before Covid-19 and Biloela Hospital was no different.

“Labor is losing control of the health system.

“The LNP was able to reduce ambulance ramping to 15% by 2015, but now under Labor it’s nearly hit 60% in some areas.

“The LNP won’t stop fighting for better healthcare in regional Queensland.

“All Queenslanders deserve a world class health system no matter where they live.

“This third term State Government has stopped listening, but we won’t.”

The LNP has hosted Queensland Health Crisis Town Halls in areas including Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay, Darling Downs, Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Redlands, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
