A LEAKED email has exposed a huge budget bombshell with Queensland’s largest hospital forced to make big budget cuts at a time the Queensland Health Crisis is worsening.

The Palaszczuk Government has been caught slashing $9 million from the frontline at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Shockingly, doctors and nurses will face cuts “equivalent to closing 2 wards.”

The revelation comes after the Opposition revealed surgeries were already being slashed at the hospital due to concerns over its anaesthetics training accreditation.

Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the cuts by the Palaszczuk Government were astounding.

“This is mean and mad in the middle of a health crisis,” Mr Crisafulli said.

“Imagine being a frontline health worker, after all you’ve been through, and then be asked to plug holes for the State Government’s failings.

“The PA Hospital is facing more pressure than ever and the Palaszczuk Government is asking it to make budget cuts.

“This will directly affect doctors and nurses who provide patient care.

“Our hardworking frontline staff need solutions to ease pressure in our wards but these cuts will just pile on more pressure.

“The Premier, the Health Minister and Treasurer must start listening and put a stop to these cuts.”

Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said the Health Minister has serious questions to answer.

“The PA has been forced to cut surgeries and now the Palaszczuk Government is taking a knife to its budget.

“As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know firsthand the serious impact these cuts will have on patients.

“They are the ones who lose when our hospital staff are under resourced and overburdened.”

“The Palaszczuk Government is losing control of the Health System.

“It is yet another black mark on the embattled Health Minister’s shameful record.

“The Premier has no choice but to sack Yvette D’Ath.”
