Ambulance ramping is jumping to uncontrollable levels on the Gold Coast, with the latest figures showing the Queensland Health Crisis is worsening.
According to the new Queensland Health data, Gold Coast University Hospital is among the worst in the state, with one in two patients ramped.
In the quarter to June, ramping at GCUH has climbed to a disturbing 50%, up 17.5% compared to 12 months earlier.
The new data shows eight Queensland hospitals are now suffering ramping rates greater than 50%.
Robina Hospital has experienced an increase of 21.4% in 12 months to 45%.
Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said too many Queensland hospitals had reached unacceptable ramping rates and the State Government was failing to contain it.
“Labor is losing control of the health system,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“Over 50% of all patients are waiting longer than the clinically recommended 30 minutes before receiving treatment in Logan, Brisbane, Redlands, Ipswich, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
“Paramedics and nurses are spending too much of their shift in the back of an ambulance. They didn’t sign up for that.
“The LNP has put solutions on the table including better triaging, more beds and the introduction of real-time data for emergency departments.
“Currently the State Government’s approach is failing to turn the Queensland Health Crisis around.
“Queenslanders expect governments to be honest and accountable, but the Health Minister is refusing to release monthly ambulance ramping data because the statistics are getting worse.
“You can’t fix what you don’t measure.”
