IN 2015, the Palaszczuk Government promised to reduce the number of patients waiting longer than clinically recommended to see an Ear Nose and Throat specialist (ENT) to zero.

Today 34,000 patients are on the specialist outpatient waitlist to see an ENT.

Today, 45% or more than 15,000 Queenslanders on that list are waiting longer than clinically recommended.

The promise the Palaszczuk Labor Government made in 2015 lies in ruin.

Today, Health Minister Shannon Fentiman has critical questions she must answer:

• How many of the 34,000 Queenslanders on the ENT waitlist are children?
• How long have they been waiting?
• When will they get the treatment they need?
• What is the Palaszczuk Labor Government doing to reduce the ENT waitlist?

The distressing story of Queensland girl Azarliah Jones is another example of the long term impacts the failures of this Government is having on Queenslanders.

The 5 year old Queenslander is now facing developmental delays because she is yet to receive the help she deserves.

That’s why the LNP Opposition raised her case publicly.

The lack of action of this Government today is affecting Queensland kids for a lifetime.

How many more children like Azarliah are there in Queensland and why is Ms Fentiman not doing anything about this issue? Or does she not understand the impacts her delays are having on people’s lives?

As a registered nurse and former hospital administrator, I’ve seen the devastating impacts patients have faced after being stuck on a waitlist.

After eight years, three terms and four Health Ministers, the chaos and crisis within the Palaszczuk Labor Government is affecting Queenslanders every day.
