More Queenslanders will get the chance to speak up and share their experiences about their local hospitals with Queensland Health Crisis Town Halls announced for 2022.
The LNP has today announced Health Crisis Town Halls will be held in Chinchilla and Biloea next week.
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said the LNP’s Queensland Health Crisis Town Halls have uncovered the true state of the Queensland Health Crisis.“Speaking up can make a difference and now the people of Chinchilla and Biloela get their opportunity,” Ms Bates said.
“We’ve already secured results for many Queenslanders stuck on a surgery waiting list for years.
“Whistle-blowers and former frontline doctors and nurses have come forward revealing shocking staff shortages, lack of beds and morale sinking to an all-time low.
“As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how stressful it can be for our dedicated frontline staff who are overworked and under-resourced.
“All Queenslanders deserve a world class health system no matter where they live.
“But, in Chinchilla a mother was forced to give birth on the side of the highway because the maternity ward was shut and there has been a 50% reduction in doctors at the hospital since 2005 from four to two.*
“While in Biloela, access to basic health services like a CT scanner are lacking.“We won’t stop fighting for the honest Queenslanders who’ve been silenced or feel they have nowhere to turn.
“The LNP has put solutions on the table for the State Government to adopt including real-time data monitoring, better resources for triaging and more funding on the front line.”Last year the LNP hosted Queensland Health Crisis Town Halls in areas including Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay, Redcliffe, Caboolture, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
