I welcome the signing of this agreement.
However, it will be cold comfort to many Cairns locals who need better access to healthcare today, not in 10 years. The people of Cairns can’t afford to wait any longer for the health system they deserve. It’s time to act now because 30% of people arriving by ambulance are ramped at the Cairns Hospital. It’s time to act now because 1 in every 3 patients won’t be treated on time in the Cairns Hospital emergency department. It’s time to act now because 1 in 10 patients waiting for elective surgery won’t be operated on within the clinically recommended timeframe. It’s time for the State Government to start listening and start acting because the Queensland Health Crisis is real and it’s costing Queenslanders every day. The State Government is losing control of Queensland Health and the Cairns Hospital. |
