PRESSURE is growing on the Palaszczuk Labor Government to urgently adopt the LNP’s solutions to curb the escalating ambulance ramping crisis affecting patients on the Gold Coast.
The latest State Government figures have exposed a growing trend at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) and Robina Hospital which should prompt the Health Minister to finally act.
In a sign of more chaos and crisis under Labor, ramping at GCUH has increased by 2% to 45% quarter-on-quarter for the start of 2023.
At Robina Hospital, ambulance ramping is 46%, up from 42% quarter on quarter.
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said the alarming new figures should prompt the Palaszczuk Labor Government to admit they’ve lost control of Queensland Health.
“Another quarterly rise proves the Palaszczuk Labor Government can’t be trusted to heal the Queensland Health Crisis because of the chaos and crisis that has consumed them,” Ms Bates said.
“The LNP has put health solutions on the table to heal the Queensland Health Crisis including more resources, better triaging, releasing data in real-time and putting doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care.
“What more will it take for Shannon Fentiman to start listening to Gold Coast patients and hospital staff?
“Ambulance ramping was 15% in Queensland when the Palaszczuk Labor Government took office.
“As a registered nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how frustrating it is for patients and paramedics who are forced to spend hours at the end of an ambulance ramp before receiving treatment.
“Patient care must always be the top priority.
“After eight years, three terms and four Health Ministers, the Palaszczuk Labor Government has stopped listening to Queenslanders.”
