CENTRAL Queensland’s ramping crisis has soared to frightening new levels, with new official figures revealing the situation is getting worse at Rockhampton and Gladstone Hospitals.

Queensland Health quarterly data for March 2022 shows ambulance ramping has increased four percent from the previous quarter to 45%*.

Gladstone Hospital also suffered a four per cent quarterly increase to 13%.

Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the Premier and her government were fast running out of excuses for the Queensland Health Crisis.

“This government is losing control of our hospitals, our ambulances and our health system because they did not invest in enough beds.

“They have let down every Queenslander in this state and it’s time they explained how they are going to fix this crisis of their own making.

“The LNP has solutions on the table including more beds, better triaging, releasing real-time data and giving power back to the frontline staff to make better decisions to improve patient care.”

Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said exhausted paramedics are doing an incredible job under the toughest conditions, but they are being let down by this government.

“Queensland Health was in crisis long before Covid, the Health Minister can no longer hide,” Ms Bates said.

“Under Anna Bligh ramping was at 30%. Under the former LNP Government ambulance ramping was 15%. Now it’s 42% across Queensland under Annastacia Palaszczuk.

“This is the worst ambulance ramping in history and Queensland has the worst ambulance ramping in the country.

“It’s clear the Palaszczuk Government is the worst government Queenslanders have ever seen when it comes to managing our healthcare system.”

LNP Candidate for Callide Bryson Head said Labor is losing control of Queensland Health.

“Biloela Hospital doesn’t even have a CT scanner,” he said.

“Whether it’s a grandfather in Biloela or a school kid in Calliope, nobody should have to wait hours in the back of an ambulance at hospital.

“I will fight for better regional healthcare during the Callide by-election.”
