A CENTRAL Queensland patient had to wait nearly nine hours in the Emergency Department waiting room at Rockhampton Hospital, in more proof the longer the State Labor Government is in power, the worse the Queensland Health Crisis gets.
The extraordinary wait time was uncovered after the LNP Opposition submitted a Question on Notice that asked the Government for wait time data for August and September 2023.
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said Queensland had the worst ambulance ramping in the country and the latest data proves the health system is continuing to deteriorate because of the chaos and crisis of Labor.
“Health Minister Shannon Fentiman promised Queenslanders things would improve, but they haven’t, they’ve only gotten worse,” Ms Bates said.
“Queenslanders are tired of the broken promises, false hope, missed targets and lack of accountability.
“As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how hard my frontline colleagues work every shift.
“Our doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals are exhausted. They are world class professionals let down by a broken system.
“Only the LNP has the right priorities for Queensland’s future and that includes easier access to health services. We’ve also put solutions on the table to heal the Queensland Health Crisis including better resources, better triaging, sharing data in real-time and putting doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care.”
LNP Candidate for Rockhampton Donna Kirkland said Central Queensland health staff deserve more respect from the State Labor Government.
“Labor has failed to adequately plan, resource and run our hospital system, and these figures show the disturbing result of that,” Mrs Kirkland said.
LNP Candidate for Keppel Nigel Hutton said the Queensland Health Crisis is affecting patients every day and Labor just doesn’t understand the enormity of the situation.
“All Queenslanders deserve a world class health system no matter where they live,” Mr Hutton said.
“While Labor focuses on their own chaos and crisis, we’ll continue our fight to heal the Queensland Health Crisis.”
