I AM appalled by the embattled Health Minister’s comments today talking down the role of obstetricians in Queensland.
This follows a similar bizarre attack last year when Yvette D’Ath completely understated how many births obstetricians were required in Queensland.
Those words, and those actions, by the Health Minister have a real impact.
When you’ve got the Health Minister downplaying the role of health workers, it crushes morale.
Is there any wonder with comments like this, doctors are refusing the Health Minister’s offer to come and work in Queensland?
The Health Minister should be talking up the critical jobs our health workers do for us all, not talking them down to try and shift blame from her own failings.
As a registered nurse, I know how frustrated our health workers are with the Health Minister’s ineptitude.
Our hardworking health workers deserve better than a hopeless and inept Health Minister.
This is yet another reason why Yvette D’Ath must go.
Member for Callide, Bryson Head, said Queenslanders deserve honesty from the Health Minister.
“Today the embattled Health Minister Yvette D’Ath was asked directly if all maternity units across the electorate of Callide were shut.
“Instead of being open and transparent with my community, Yvette D’Ath chose not to answer the question.
“Yvette D’Ath is either so in over her head she doesn’t know how dire the situation has become, or she is too embarrassed to admit how far health services have deteriorated during the eight years of the Palaszczuk Labor Government.
“Here’s some news for you Minister, families in my electorate know full well the situation plaguing my community.
“We’ve had babies born on the side of the highway and it’s not good enough.”
