- New strategy will deliver more trade and investment while strengthening Queensland’s position as a US partner of choice.
- The Crisafulli Government is building stronger international trade partnerships after Labor’s decade of decline left our international relationships in tatters.
The Crisafulli Government has delivered an export boom with the United States, with businesses and communities around Queensland benefiting from an open for business approach, and a flourishing trade relationship with one of our closest strategic and economic partners.
Export figures with the US surged in the first year of the Crisafulli Government – up 52.7 per cent to $5.4 billion in 2025 – after the former Labor Government failed to capitalise on vital opportunities with international trade partners during its decade of decline.
The Crisafulli Government will continue to drive growth and unlock opportunities through the Queensland–United States Trade and Investment Strategy 2026–2028, which sets a clear path to deepen the economic partnership with the US.
The strategy has identified critical minerals, primary industries, energy technologies, advanced manufacturing and cyber and AI expertise as priority sectors for investment and long-term collaboration.
Queensland is open for business under the Crisafulli Government, as it continues to drive investment in critical minerals, which means more jobs for Queenslanders and better services through a stronger economy.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said Trade and Investment Queensland’s new strategy was outlining a practical plan to grow trade, investment and long-term collaboration with US partners.
“Queensland is well and truly open for business, and the United States – our fastest growing export market – is responding in a big way,” Minister Bates said.
“The Crisafulli Government is backing Queensland businesses to achieve their goals on the international stage and helping unlock the full potential of our trade relationship with the United States.
“The former Labor Government took our international relationships for granted, but the huge export figures delivered in the Crisafulli Government’s first year shows what happens when Queensland is back open for business.” |
