NEW health data released by the Palaszczuk Labor Government today shows the elective surgery waitlist in Queensland has blown out yet again.
In the quarter to December more than 59,300 Queenslanders languished on the list waiting to see a surgeon.
This is an increase of 754 Queenslanders compared to the September quarter.
This is now nearly double the amount of Queenslanders who were on a surgery waitlist when the Palaszczuk Labor Government first came to office in 2015.
Under the LNP, the elective surgery waitlist fell to just over 30,000 Queenslanders.
The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s failure to properly plan and resource our health system means more Queenslanders are not getting the surgery they need.
These are people waiting for operations like hip replacements, knee surgery or other life-changing procedures like restoring sight.
This is yet another reason why embattled Health Minister Yvette D’Ath must go.
Queenslanders know the Palaszczuk Labor Government is losing control of our health system.
Queenslanders deserve better.
