SHOCKING new data reveals Queenslanders spent 40,000 hours ramped at hospitals in just three months, including one patient who spent over 10 hours ramped in an ambulance at Ipswich Hospital.
The data, released to the LNP under a Question on Notice, exposes the shocking wait times Queenslanders endured between January and March, with patients regularly waiting hours on end.
The longest times faced by paramedics and patients between January and March 2023 includes:
• 10 hours, 31 minutes at Ipswich Hospital
• 10 hours, 30 minutes at Redland Hospital
• 10 hours at Ipswich Hospital
• 9 hours, 19 minutes at Ipswich Hospital
• 9 hours, seven minutes at Ipswich Hospital
• 8 hours, 53 minutes at Princess Alexandra Hospital
• 8 hours, 43 minutes at Logan Hospital
Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the lengthy wait times were another example of how the Palaszczuk Government’s chaos and crisis was impacting Queenslanders.
“The shocking wait times endured by Queenslanders show how dire the Queensland Health Crisis has become under the Palaszczuk Government,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“These alarming figures reveal our health system is on life-support, and urgently needs intervention.
“Ambulance ramping is a barometer of the health of the hospital network, it highlights hospital bed-block, staff shortages and immense Emergency Department pressures.
“The LNP has put health solutions on the table to heal the Queensland Health Crisis including more resources, better triaging, releasing data in real-time and putting doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care.”
Shadow Health Minister and Registered Nurse Ros Bates said there was no excuse for Queenslanders to wait more than ten hours for a doctor.
“After three terms, eight years and four Health Ministers, the Queensland Health Crisis is getting worse, not better,” Ms Bates said.
“It is unacceptable for patients to be forced to endure 10 hours on a stretcher, waiting just to get into the Emergency Department.”
“These numbers should be ringing alarm bells for the Palaszczuk Government but instead they act as though this is business as usual.
“Our hardworking doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals are crying out for an end to the Queensland Health Crisis.
“Patient care, not self-promotion, must be the top priority from Photo-op Fentiman, because Queenslanders deserve better.”
