LEADER of the Opposition David Crisafulli has called an urgent Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall to be held in Logan on Wednesday morning.
The Opposition has been inundated with deeply troubling stories from patients and paramedics from the area.
Mr Crisafulli said the Opposition would answer the call and listen to the people of Logan as we work together to heal the Queensland Health Crisis.
“It’s clear the people of Logan are desperate to be heard and the Opposition has answered their call. We will listen to them,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“This will be our 24th Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall and it will give locals the opportunity to share their stories.
“For months we’ve been touring Queensland and we’ve heard from thousands of Queenslanders.
“The Queensland Health crisis is affecting Logan on a scale the area has never seen before.”
State Government statistics show under the Palaszczuk Government at Logan Hospital:
• Ambulance ramping has soared to a record level of 65%.
• More than half of all emergency department patients aren’t seen within the clinically recommended time.
• More than two thousand people are on the elective surgery waitlist.
• The waiting list for the waiting list has soared past 17,000 people.
Shadow Health Minister and registered nurse Ros Bates said she was also deeply troubled by harrowing reports regarding the care given to children.
“We must do everything we can to listen and heal the Queensland Health Crisis because lives depend on it,” Ms Bates said.
“The entire state is suffering because of a lack of health services.
“What has the Palaszczuk Government been doing for the last seven years to improve our hospitals?
“The Palaszczuk Government isn’t listening and has no immediate plan to help Queenslanders in need.
“Queensland has the worst ambulance ramping in the country, people are dying on the ramps or in the arms of loved ones waiting for an ambulance. Hospital bypass is back and that should concern us all.
“We won’t stop fighting for better healthcare for all Queenslanders.
“The LNP has put solutions on the table including more beds, better triaging, releasing data in real-time and giving power back to the frontline staff to make better decisions to improve patient care.
“Together, I know we can make a difference and heal the ailing healthcare system.”
