. Premier fails to support embattled Child Safety Minister until prompted by social media
· Shannon Fentiman refuses to accept responsibility for broken child protection system
· Each day we learn more on how Palaszczuk Labor Government failed Mason Lee
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk failed to support embattled Child Safety Minister Shannon Fentiman in State Parliament this morning, only begrudgingly doing so after being prompted by Twitter.
Shadow Child Safety Minister Ros Bates said it was extraordinary the Premier refused to say whether she had confidence in her Minister when initially asked.
“We saw today an embattled Minister refusing once again to accept any responsibility for the failings of her Department and of the Palaszczuk Labor Government to protect little Mason Lee,” Ms Bates said.
“Not only that, when asked, the Premier refused to endorse Shannon Fentiman or say she had her confidence.
“Nearly 30 minutes after being first asked, the Premier eventually said she had confidence in all her ministers.
“Those words are eerily similar to those the Premier used when asked whether former Police Minister Jo-Ann Miller had her confidence.
“We all know how that turned out for Ms Miller.”
Ms Bates said with a vote of no confidence from the Premier, Shannon Fentiman should finally accept and apologise for the system failure that has occurred under her watch.

“As every day passes we learn more and more about how this Government failed little Mason Lee, on what would have been his second birthday,” she said.
