THE Opposition is demanding the State Government explain why it hasn’t released the latest hospital performance figures for Queensland.
Despite the calendar ticking over to November, the State Government has failed to release hospital figures for the July to September quarter.
It means the critical hospital data is now a month overdue.
Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the Palaszczuk Government no longer valued openness and transparency like it did when it was first elected nearly eight years ago.
“It is vital hospital data is released so the State Government can be held accountable for the Queensland Health Crisis,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“Queenslanders deserve to know the truth about what is really happening in our hospitals.
“The State Government has run the health system into the ground for nearly 8 years.
“Ambulance ramping was at 15% in 2015, it’s now soared to 45%.
“Queenslanders want to know when will ambulance ramping return to 15%? But that question can’t be answered if the State Government continually refuses to release the numbers.
“The Opposition has put the solution on the table to release health data in real time so the performance of the system can be measured and improved every step of the way.
“That’s what being an open and transparent government is all about.”
Shadow Minister for Open Data Brent Mickelberg said if data wasn’t being measured, the system was destined for failure.
“We know from documents obtained by the Opposition, that the Health Minister has a track record of only releasing data when it is politically convenient,” Mr Mickelberg said.
“What is she waiting for this time?
“The Palaszczuk Government cares more about its own political survival than patient survival.
“The embattled Health Minister has admitted she controls when this data is released but that it must be ‘cleaned’ first.
“The September-quarter data doesn’t need to be ‘cleaned’. It needs to be publicly released.
“Time’s up, Minister. Where is the health data?
“Queenslanders deserve a government that is accountable to the people it serves.”
