The State Government has been caught withholding real-time ambulance ramping data while people are dying waiting for ambulances in Queensland.
For months, the LNP has been calling for real-time health data to be rolled out in Queensland to start fixing the Queensland Health Crisis.
In Estimates today, it was revealed the State Government has access to real-time ambulance ramping data but is refusing to share it with the public.
The Ambulance Commissioner has a real-time ramping data system set up in his office.
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates says the State Government is hiding real-time health data from Queenslanders because it doesn’t want the public to know the truth about the Queensland Health Crisis.
“The State Government is losing control of the health system and Queenslanders deserve to know the truth,” Ms Bates said.
“The Health Minister admitted New South Wales and South Australia make their data public in 45 minutes, in Queensland it takes 3 months.
“We’ve learned now Queensland Health already have this technology available, but is refusing to share it.
“Ambulance ramping is getting worse, elective surgery waitlists are growing and more patients are waiting longer than the clinically recommended time in emergency departments.
“Queenslanders deserve an open and transparent government, instead, the State Government is keeping the truth about ambulance ramping from Queenslanders because it knows the numbers are terrible.“Having real-time data available for all Queenslanders is one of several solutions the LNP has put on the table to help fix the Queensland Health Crisis.
“Ambulance ramping is getting worse, elective surgery waitlists are growing and more patients are waiting longer than the clinically recommended time in emergency departments.“As a nurse and former hospital administrator I know how frustrating it is for frontline staff to work under immense pressure with a lack of resources.
“Better patient care must be the top priority for the government, not hiding data.”
