EXTRAORDINARY new health figures have exposed another disturbing chapter in the Queensland Health Crisis.
The number of Ambulance Hours Lost due to ramping has reached unprecedented levels, with new Queensland Health statistics showing a major increase of 201% in just 12 months.
Across the Darling Downs 3155 hours were lost in 2021.
That’s an increase from 2107 hours in 2020.
More than eight and a half hours were lost every day.
Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the flow-on effects of ambulance ramping are serious.
“The lost hours from ambulance ramping affects patients and paramedics every hour of every day,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“Patients are ramped, and paramedics can’t get to other Queenslanders in their hour of need.”
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said ambulance ramping in Queensland is the worst in history.
“Every minute these Ambo’s lose on the ramp, is a minute they can’t get to another patient,” Ms Bates said.
“Our frontline paramedics are stretched to the absolute limit.
“The State Government is losing control of Queensland Health.”
LNP Candidate for Callide Bryson Head said the 114% increase in ambulance hours lost across Central Queensland is disgraceful.
“This is why I am going to continue to fight for better healthcare for the bush,” he said.
“It’s time the State Government started listening and fix the health crisis.
“Our paramedics are heroes and they deserve more resources and respect.”
