LNP Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates MP has called for a major cash injection for the Mudgeeraba Electorate as the Labor Government is set to reveal their State Budget today.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone, so now is the time to commit to much-needed major projects that I’ve been campaigning for with the Mudgeeraba community and that is why I’m asking Labor to commit to delivering the projects I have been campaigning on, with a promise that they will be completed before the next State Election in 2024.

Ms Bates said she had been writing to Main Roads and the Labor Government about major road improvements for her electorate, and today is the day to deliver them.

“I have secured over $10 million in upgrades for Worongary Road since my time as the local member, but locals know that more work is needed as our community grows.  As patron of the Mudgeeraba Show Society and the Mudgeeraba Pony and Hack Club, we need the next section of Worongary Road upgraded for safety reasons for riders and pedestrians alike.”

“Safety must also be improved on Gooding Drive by signalising the roundabout and adding dual lanes between Bourton Road and the M1.

“Franklin Drive needs to be upgraded and Council need to put up their share to upgrade Mclachlan Drive and Old Coach Road approaches.

“I welcome the State Governments commitment to the new Exit 85 off ramp at Reedy Creek but Council need to finally upgrade the section of Old Coach Road from Woolworths to Woodland Drive.

“I am also asking the State Government to kick in their 50% share, which I have managed to get commitment from the Gold Coast City Council to fund the footpath along Springbrook Road so that our kids can get to school safely.

“Hooning is a huge issue in our local community, we look forward to the Labor Governments proposed amendments to the TORUM Act and implementing the LNP’s tough hooning laws so council can fulfil their promise of 1800 covert CCTV cameras Gold Coast wide.”
