Residents from Mudgeeraba to Numinbah Valley are getting a raw deal in Labor’s State Budget.

LNP Member of Mudgeeraba, Ros Bates MP, accused the Palaszczuk Labor Government of recycling announcements, with no new money for schools, roads, and community organisations in her electorate.

“The reality is that Queenslanders are being saddled with $130 billion of debt, while our hardworking taxpayers in Mudgeeraba are seeing nothing in return,” she said.

“There is no new money west of the M1 in the Electorate of Mudgeeraba, so as far as Labor is concerned, our community is forgotten in this Budget.

Ms Bates said this is a budget of broken Labor promises, with the Palaszczuk Labor Government failing to match the LNP’s promises despite blowing out their debt.

“There’s no money to build the Merrimac Train Station, or to fund safety upgrades at Gooding Drive, Worongary Road, the Austinville Causeway, and the Tallai-Mudgeeraba Road Intersection.

“Labor must take Gold Coasters for fools.

“They just re-announced funding for female change facilities for the Gold Coast Dolphins and Robina Raptors which are already underway.

“Meanwhile, clubs like the Mudgeeraba Soccer Club, the Mudgeeraba Redbacks, and Magic United have missed out on much needed female change facilities.

“Labor has even failed to come to the table and provide their portion of funding for a footpath along Springbrook Road.

“The announcement for funding at Natural Bridge only replaces Forest Park which Labor tore down against the wishes of locals.

“My Community Legal, an organisation that supports DV survivors, is again left with no funding commitments to keep them afloat.

“Labor has been talking big on tourism, but has failed to deliver in the Hinterland, with no tourism signage funded in Springbrook.

“Again, there’s no funding to clean up Mudgeeraba Creek which is in dire need of rejuvenation.

“I’m furious that my community has been ignored in Labor’s Budget, even though we will be the ones paying off the huge debt bomb Labor has set off.”
