LNP Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates MP says the Labor government has left her community behind again with major priorities ignored by the Palaszczuk budget.

Ms Bates said locals deserved better roads, improved school safety, more resources for local police and increased environmental protection.

“It’s clear the Palaszczuk government is ignoring our community.

All we got is a reannouncement of the funding for the Robina Raptor Rugby League Club Female change rooms – promised LAST budget, but still not built.

Robina hospital got a second CT scanner.  Health officials have been asking for years for the resource, to help provide health services for our growing community.

They have re-announced a train station at Merrimac, first promised two elections ago – but there’s no timeline.

They’ve re-announced funding to upgrade Nerang Murwillumbah Road.  But there’s nothing new for the roads servicing our growing region.

It’s good to see that Numinbah Valley State School gets an upgrade but there’s still no plan for a new state high school west of the M1.  The area is booming, and residents are calling out for a new school.

I’m thrilled that the Mudgeeraba Special School – which does such wonderful work with a very special cohort of students – will get new classrooms.

But by and large we’ve been neglected again. And it’sjust not good enough,” said Ms Bates.

My community wanted:

$330,000 to deter hoons at the intersection of Pine Creek Road and Nerang-Murwillumbah Road; upgrade including road realignment, concrete barriers, and CCTV
$1.5 million in vital safety upgrades at Mudgeeraba Road-Tallai Road intersection including widening of Mudgeeraba Road and installation of pedestrian lights.
$1.5 million to raise the Austinville Causeway on Gold Coast Springbrook Road
$9 million to dual lane Gooding Drive from Bourton Road to M1 to stop the crazy traffic gridlock
$30 million to put signals in at Gooding Drive Roundabout, significantly increasing safety for our community.
Further upgrades to Worongary Road from Mudgeeraba Road to Woodvale Drive
$100,000 to clean up the Mudgeeraba Creek from the M1 to Somerset Drive
$60,000 for flashing school lights on Gold Coast-Springbrook Road for the Mudgeeraba Creek State School
$60,000 for flashing school lights on Eden-View Drive for Kings Christian College
$600,000 for My Community Legal in Robina to assist victims of domestic and family violence.
$150,000 for signage at Wunburra Lookout for tourism in Springbrook
$250,000 to upgrade the facilities in Carrara for the Mudgeeraba-Nerang District Cricket Club and the Carrara Saints AFL Club

Our community knows the impact of people power, and we will be fighting to make sure Mudgeeraba gets its fair share,” said Ms Bates.
