Labor breaks major health promise
The chaos and crisis that has engulfed the Palaszczuk-Miles Labor Government has deepened, after it was revealed Labor was walking away from its promise to build a new Biloela Hospital.
Queensland’s worst Health Minister Shannon Fentiman has repeatedly promised Labor would build a new hospital in Biloela.
However, in a stunning development Assistant Health Minister and Keppel MP Brittany Lauga has now revealed on local radio, that Biloela will instead receive a “new multi-purpose health service” and not a new hospital, under Labor.
Shadow Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Ros Bates said the backtrack is a big broken promise by Labor.
“The Health Minister promised to build a new hospital in Biloela. She confirmed it in Parliament and boasted about it on social media,” Ms Bates said.
“Now it looks like this key facility for the region is being downgraded by Labor.
“You simply cannot trust a thing Shannon Fentiman says.
“Worse, Shannon Fentiman wasn’t even prepared to front up and announce the broken promise herself, she sent out her Assistant Minister.
“Health Minister Shannon Fentiman and her Assistant Brittany Lauga are at odds over Biloela Hospital.
“Shannon Fentiman needs to explain to Biloela locals who deserve to know the truth.”
Callide MP Bryson Head said Central Queenslanders can’t trust the Health Minister or her Assistant.
“This is a shocking betrayal for the people of Biloela,” Mr Head said.
“Shannon Fentiman needs to end the confusion, front up and tell the people of Biloela if health services in their town are being downgraded.
“Patients and staff deserve to know the truth.
“This revelation comes after Shannon Fentiman failed to come clean about why the surgical theatre is no longer compliant, why the maternity ward has been on bypass for two years and why there is still no CT scanner.
“Biloela needs a fully functional, state of the art hospital and not a half-baked facility.
“Once again, Labor is trying to dupe Central Queenslanders.
“Only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future and that includes easier access to health services.”
