TWO Queensland Health Crisis Town Halls will be held over two days in Bundaberg and Calliope next week, following a successful turn out in Ipswich yesterday.

Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the format had given Queenslanders the opportunity to speak up and help force change.

“Bundaberg residents have been denied their level five hospital, ambulance ramping is getting worse, hospitals are consistently on bypass and our dedicated frontline health staff are at breaking point,” Mr Crisafulli said.

“The issues we’re hearing about at Gladstone Hospital are also having a big flow on effect for people who live in towns like Calliope and Biloela.

“Patients, nurses, surgeons, carers and whistleblowers have bravely spoken up at our town halls and I encourage locals from across the region to join us next week.

“Speaking up can make a difference.

“The LNP has repeatedly outlined our solutions including real-time data monitoring, better resources for triaging, more beds and more funding on the front line.

“Lives are on the line here and the State Government must start listening to Queenslanders and take some real action.”

Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates questioned what the State Government had been doing for the past seven years to prepare our hospitals.

“Our paramedics, doctors and nurses are doing a remarkable job under immense stress and we thank them for keeping the health system on the rails,” Ms Bates said.

“As a nurse and former hospital administrator I know how difficult it can be on the frontline.

“We won’t stop fighting for a world class health system for all Queenslanders.”

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said the Labor Party had lied to Queenslanders.

“They haven’t delivered us our stage five hospital like they promised during the last election,” Mr Bennett said.

“Health is the top issue in Bundaberg and I am thrilled the health crisis town hall is coming to Bundaberg to hear from locals.”

LNP Candidate for Callide Bryson Head said the Town Halls would tackle several serious issues.

“I firmly believe rural health services aren’t up to scratch,” Mr Head said.

“It’s clear that health services in the bush are getting worse and are struggling to provide the care my community needs.

“I look forward to listening to the concerns of my community.”
