BEFORE the last election the people of Bundaberg were promised a level five hospital by the State Government.

Today, the Premier failed to commit to a level five hospital in Bundaberg.

It’s not about the State Government’s record health budget, it’s about their record delivering health services to the Wide Bay.

There won’t be a patient in the new Bundaberg Hospital until at least 2028.

The health crisis is in the here and now.

Patients are waiting hours for ambulances now.

Right now, ambulance ramping is the worst in Bundaberg’s history, at 36 per cent.

The State Government has destroyed the health system over the past seven years, and now they want another seven years to fix it.

The Premier can wave around her glossy brochure, but the truth is the Wide Bay has been ignored for years, and the consequences for patients, doctors and nurses have been horrific.

This situation in the Wide Bay is dire. It has been for more than half a decade.

The LNP has solutions on the table, that the government can implement now.

These include Improving triaging, making hospital data available in real time and putting Wide Bay doctors and nurses back in charge, instead of decisions being made from Brisbane.

Properly resourcing more beds is only one piece of the puzzle.
